All the materials for a new book are now online. They are drawn from various albums of photographs taken at Buddhavanam, a large project near Nagarjuna Sagar in Telangana. The albums include the Buddhavanam Stūpas; the Jātaka Stories; the Stūpa Drum and the Lower Register Reliefs.
The book will be published in two dual-language versions: one in English and Indonesian, which is being prepared for online publication by my publisher in Indonesia, the Ehipassiko Foundation; and a version in English and Telugu which will be published in hardcopy and online. The photographs are in black and white.
The book features reliefs telling some of the Jātaka stories, the life of the Bodhisatta up and till the Awakening, the life of the Buddha, including many stories not previously illustrated, and the life of the Sāsana after the Buddha’s passing, and up to the present day.
The stories are chosen for their relevance, and as a general introduction to Buddhist history, especially in India. There is an Introduction about the Buddhavanam project and the reliefs in particular. There is also a Select Bibliography and Links to the stories for people who want to learn more. Once the PDFs are ready I will update so it will be possible to download and print for yourself, wherever you may be.
