I am currently in the midst of publishing a series of books describing the narrative reliefs at Borobudur. The first in the series, Lalitavistara, was released a couple of years ago, and the pdf has been available for some time on the Photo Dharma website.
Earlier this year Gaṇḍavyūha was published in Jakarta in dual language format (English and Bahasa Indonesian) and has now been distributed to temples, Buddhist centres and other outlets around the country.
People often ask how to get hold of these publications. Well, truth is, it isn’t easy, they are distributed on a donation basis, and postage can be prohibitively high, often costing more that the printing of the book itself.
However I have an agreement with the publisher to allow me to put the books up in pdf format some time after initial publication, and with Gaṇḍavyūha that time is now. So if you want a print copy, it is possible to print one out yourself, or find a printer who will do it for you.
I have started a new Publications Page to house these online pdfs, there are two published so far; two more – on the Avadāna Stories and the Jātaka Stories – are with the publisher. There is one more to prepare from Borobudur, and I am currently working on two more books.
Meanwhile, apart from the Bahasa Indonesia, the rest is online in html format, with slideshows, etc. and is often easier to access and navigate that way. See the Indonesia page for links to all the photos from Borobudur (3,000+).
Incredible great work
