Gobi by Boerte (Mongolian Music Video)

Posted on May 14, 2011September 25, 2021 by Ānandajoti

One of the very first documentaries that I posted on this blog last year was The Story of the Weeping Camel, a truly memorable film from Mongolia about nomadic sheperds in the Gobi desert trying to save the life of a rare white bactrian camel calf after it was rejected by its mother.

Unfortunately that video is no longer available as an embed, as it went down when Google Video as a hosting site was taken off air last month. But while searching for a replacement (something I couldn’t find), I came across this most unusual music video of the soundtrack music from the film.

Imagine a full-scale music video of traditional Mongolian folk artists, beautifully photographed and edited, and that is somewhere near what we have here. The music, called Gobi, is by Ch. Sangidorj and arranged by Boerte and played by a team of traditional musicians, cut together with footage from the film.
