Bhikkhu Sumedha’s final wish was to help to establish a Burn’s Unit at the Peradeniya Hospital and today there is a commemorative event which we hope will lead to the establishment of the Unit.
A successful appeal to buy land so that the Bodhirukaramaya monastery near Kurunegala, Sri Lanka doesn’t loose its water supply.
The Sukhasiddhi Foundation is a Tibetan group working to provide better water and sanitation facilities for people in the villages around Bodhgaya. They are also involved in providing education to the local people so they can eventually run their own projects.
In this video Bhikkhu Bodhi talks about how he and some friends came to start Buddhist Global Relief. The video was made around 6 months after the organisation was set up in 2007.
An appeal is being launched following the destructive cyclone which hit Western Myanmar last month. The Rakhine Thahaya Athin (Arakanese Welfare Association) based in Yangon is organizing Emergency Relief Measures.
We see over the past few years that there have been an increasing number of natural disasters around the world. Responding to all these events that follow one upon the other is very challenging indeed, but we are all in this together.

Here is some more news about the novice who recently had open-heart surgery in Sri Lanka. He is back at his monastery but still needs monitoring.
UPDATE NOVEMBER 2010: As far as I know this particular appeal is now over, but still I would like to mention that Ven. Sanghasena is involved in on-going good works amongst the Ladakhi people, and this is a good temple to support.
