In earlier posts I have shown some of the tools I am using to output panoramic photographs and make videos out of them. Here I will show a great software that can make “paintings” out of your photos. The software is FotoSketcher, which is a free download for Windows machines.
The programme is very versatile and can produce many different sorts of effects, including pencil sketches, ink drawings, and different types of paintings. Here I will show how I made one sort of painting. This is a naturalistic photo I took of a rose when I was in Sri Lanka:
I then processed it using FotoSketcher, using the “Painting 3 (median + bilateral filter)” setting, and this is the result:
Which is quite a good effect and does I think look like it has been painted. The photograph that I use for the theme of this blog (top of the page) was also “painted” from a photograph I took at Borobudur in the same way.
Using the programme I “painted” a number of photographs I had taken on Tonle Sap, and then panned and zoomed them in the Digital Clip Factory, which I discussed last week, and here is the result:

The music is by Tootaton, who accompanied Ajahn Suthep on his recent retreat here, and also played music while the retreatants were meditating. I hope to feature more of his music in the future.
