Educare Programme at Bodhi Lankarama, Taiping, 2010

Posted on July 18, 2010April 13, 2017 by Ānandajoti

Educare

Before moving to the Vivekavana temple in Bukit Mertajam in February this year I was the resident monk in the Bodhi Lankarama temple in Taiping. One of the last programmes we did there before I left was an Educare programme which was held on Sunday 17th January.

The Educare programme is organised by Yayasan Maha Karuna, which is part of the Sri Lankan Buddhist Temple in Sentul in Kuala Lumpur. The programme provides essential school items for needy school children regardless of race or religion.

This year we got together with Semangat Maju Disabled School and the Children’s Welfare Home in Taiping to provide them with 250 school kits for the coming school year. The programme was recorded by our good friend Teik Leong Lim, and he also edited a video together which I have just managed to upload to the Internet.

I am embedding it here now as the Bodhi Lankarama Dhamma School is coming over today for a joint programme with the Than Hsiang Chan Yuen Dharma School in Bukit Mertajam, a programme I initiated and helped organise, and then they will be coming up to Vivekavana afterwards, and will be presented with copies of the DVD. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
