Building on the work I published last week, in which I indexed the Suttapiṭaka, I have used some of the coding to present a database of the Dhammapada Parallels, so students can have a quick look up of words and phrases found in the Dhammapada literature.
I have added this page into the already exisiting collection of materials around the parallels to the Pāḷi Dhammapada, which I have been updating since 2004.
In the new table you can type in – with or without diacritics – and find parallel words and verses across nearly 1,400 parallel verses that I have collected. You can see from the screenshot below how a careful use of the fuzzy search facility can be used to turn up many variant spellings across languages: bhāsamāno, bhāṣamāno, bhaṣamaṇa.
Big thanks to Partho P. Das for help with the coding behind these pages. I hope that students of the gāthā language, and the parallels in the languages of early Buddhism will find this work useful.
