Chanting at the International Buddhist College

Posted on January 19, 2014May 3, 2020 by Ānandajoti

This is a recording of the chanting we make here at the International Buddhist College in Sadao. This is the set book for the chanting schedule here, and the recording was made on 18th January, 2014.

The chanting is the same in the morning and evening, but this was recorded during the morning session when external noise is much lower.

The chanting consists of texts from all three major traditions, and the monks and students likewise have a mixed background: Bangladeshi, Vietnamese, Sri Lankan, Chinese and one English monk 🙂

Although the chanting sounds like there was a full hall, in fact only around six monks and one female student were present that day, somehow the acoustic in the hall adds to the sound.

The recording is a little lo-fi but is the best I can get at present. I have also made a chanting book to accompany the chanting, which can be opened in a flip book below.

I should add that we usually have meditation between the Prajñaparamita-Hridayam and the The Ten Aspiration of Samantabhadra for around 20-25 minutes, the sound of silence has necessarily been cut from the recording 🙂

HOPE YOU ENJOY!
