Here is a combination of two short talks I gave at the Saturday Lunchtime dānas at the Vivekavana office in Berapit in August.
The audio quality is quite poor, but the material is useful so I thought it was worthwhile to post it here. The talks, which have been spliced together, run altogether for around 30 minutes.
As a reference for the outline of the talk I list the various items I mentioned here:
Three Main Factors:
- The Giver
- The Recipient
- The Gift
Three Times:
- During Preperation
- While Giving
- Rejoicing Later
Five Factors while Giving:
- Having Faith in Deeds and Results
- With Respect
- At the Right Time
- Liberally
- Without Hurting
Five Path Factors that Arise:
- Right View
- Right Intention
- Right Action
- Right Livelihood
- Right Effort
Three Kinds of Gifts:
- Material Gift
- Gift of Fearlessness
- Gift of Dhamma
Best Two Recipients:
- Bhikkhu and Bhikkhuni Sangha, with the Buddha at their head
- Bhikkhu and Bhikkhuni Sangha, after the Buddha has attained Nibbāna.
